One Way Paddles

  • Half day (3hrs) or full day (6hrs) unsupervised paddle boarding guided tours along the River Stour
  • Rather than returning to where you started, you can paddle down river and see so much more.
  • Come and see parts of our local area you will never see by foot or road. Its breathtaking.
  • Anyone under the age of 18, must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • We will arrange collection the other end and return to your cars
  • This experience is for groups only

PLEASE ARRIVE TO YOUR SESSION AT LEAST 15 MINUTES EARLY AND READY TO GO ON THE WATER.

Why paddle one way?

Approx. 3hr or 6hr unsupervised paddle boarding session. These are for groups only. You set off from The Henny Swan, down river to Bures, this will take you down river for 3 hrs. Or you can take the longer 6 hour session to Nayland. You will see parts of the countryside you will never see by car of foot. We will meet you at the other end to collect the equipment and to get you back to your cars.

Useful info

Pub Rules and Parking

– A launch pass is required when launching your own craft
– No private launching until the pub is open
– Only food and drink purchased from the pub, to be consumed – NO PICNICS
– Please try to travel in the least number of cars as possible. Parking is limited and this is better for the environment.
– The Paddle Company car park can be located next to The Henny Swan, in the farmers’ field. (No overnight parking)

Supervision & restrictions

– These sessions are unsupervised. Please check out the details on
the experience page before booking.
– Before every session we will provide a safety and paddle briefing.
– Young Children are allowed on the of the paddle board with adult supervision. Buoyancy aids provided. A surcharge will be charge for extra people on a paddle board.
– Please stay safe, this is a working environment, located in a busy car park.

Who is it suitable for?

– This sport is suitable for ages 7 and over. These are long paddles, so please bear this in mind when booking with children.
– If you have younger children, they can go on the front of the board with you. If you have a life jacket for anyone under the age of 7, please bring it. We have a limited supply of toddler life jackets
– If hiring a canoe, all under 18s must be accompanied on the same craft by an adult.
– You don’t have to stand up, you can sit or kneel on these boards.
– No dogs allowed on our paddle boards (Sorry!)
– We also hire Sit Down Paddle Boards if standing is not for you.

Safety information

– Buoyancy aids are recommended and must be worn at all times.
– Leashes are supplied with every board. These must be worn at all times when on the water.
– All participants must be able to swim; we do not recommend Paddle Boarding or canoeing for non-swimmers.
– You cannot be under the influence of alcohol or drugs whilst on the crafts.
– Children under the age of 18 must be always accompanied by an adult

Additional info

– We supply the paddleboard (or Canoes), the paddle, Buoyancy aid, and Wet shoes. We also have dry bags and phone cases if required.
– Bring a change of clothes and towel– Just in case!
– Dress for the weather. Shorts and Ts are fine in the summer. Wetsuits recommended in the lower season. No jeans or hoodies.
– Bring sun lotion and water on hot days.
– Please turn up 15 minutes before your booking for a safety and paddle briefing.
– Wetsuits not available.
– If you want to eat or drink at The Henny Swan, please contact them directly.
– We will collect yourselves and the craft at your final destination.
